Are We Willing?

By Larry Lundstrom
Statistics tell us that 100 people die every minute. In reality, if it takes 10 minutes to read this newsletter...or 15 minutes...1,000-1,500 souls will have gone into eternity...many without Christ! Do you grieve over that or do you snore?

 Are We Willing?

D.L. Moody said, "No one should ever talk about Hell without a tear in his eye."

When is the last time you encountered someone shedding a tear over those who are lost without Christ and bound for endless eternity in Hell? Think about it.

A few weeks ago I happened upon an interview of Franklin Graham with a well known interviewer. Franklin shared his burden and determination to carry on his father's legacy of holding crusades around the world. He firmly stated to the host, "I'm not doing this because my father did this...I'm doing this because God called me to do it." He proceeded to show footage of those who are lost and desperate, without God, in many countries where God has called him and his crusade team to do soul-winning events, Rock the River events, all through the U.S. and Canada.

As the photos and footage played on, showing the shocking, heart-wrenching places he's ministered, in the natural I can imagine it would be somewhat discouraging for an evangelist facing the obstacles, finances and opposition. The host interviewing Franklin threw up his hands and wailed, "Oh God...send the rapture, I want out of here." He turned to Franklin and commanded, "Let's pray for the rapture." Franklin interrupted the host and in so many words chided, "No...we can't look at this world's situation as a way for us Christians to get out of it for our comfort. We have to look at the millions lost without Christ. We have to win them." The host humbly bowed his head and replied, "I got the sermon!"

I wanted to jump through the TV screen and say, "Yes- preach it!" Do we as believers get the message, do we get the sermon? Do we care? Do we weep; do we lament over those dying without Christ?

2 Peter 3:9 states, "The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." That Word drops in our lap and becomes our responsibility to reach the Lost.

The question is - are we willing to let them perish - Jesus isn't. There are family members, friends and neighbors whose destiny counts on you and me. What will you be willing to do? It's up to you. I pray that you'll accept the mission and go!
