{ "Whisten...to my Words" }
Our grandson, Danté, was just three or four years old. We, adults, were busily engaged in conversation and his frustration level was rising because he wasn't being heard. Exasperated he finally pulled on his mom's dress and demanded "Whisten to my words!

As that somewhat humorous scene flipped up out of my memory bank, I couldn't help but think that God must feel the same way and must get a bit frustrated as He looks down at this troubled world. What He sees happening in His children's lives with hurt, pain, poverty, evil is so far from the Garden of Eden of perfection He created. I can visualize Him screaming to deaf ears. "Listen to My words, reminding us of the road signs of the last days. As 2 Timothy 3:2-5, NKJV states, "For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! May I ask you candidly, do you also see a "form of godliness" invading the church rather than righteous living? I know it must greatly sadden God's heart.

We are fast approaching another election, the most important one I believe we have ever had. (I know I have thought that before but as time goes on, it seems each one seems more and more critical to the future of America.) We need to be listening close to what God is saying as we choose and vote for our next president.

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States of America, warned in the early 1900s, "The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life." Does that sound like America in August of 2012? I believe to a great extent our objectives have become success, status and security. Bob Burgess penned so truthfully the following, "Our permissive society turns freedom into license; rights into riots; and pornography into profit. Concerned about a higher standard of living, some fail to live by any standard. Riches are elevated above righteousness; power over piety; and science above the Savior. We abandon the moral law and then shake our heads in disbelief as crime increases."

All I can say is, please look out America. Listen to God's Word . "Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34). There is still hope for America, " IF My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14, emphasis mine).

BUT,we have to listen first, and then respond!
