Wow! Summer has definitely hit - of course that's what the Midwest is known for. That wonderful heat to make that beautiful corn grow that we so much enjoy! A week ago, we started our mini tour in Platte, South Dakota and so enjoyed observing the fields of the beautiful wheat, and corn and the hillside peppered with thousands of head of cattle. I just kept thanking God for His blessing on this area. We had a wonderful service at Calvary Baptist with Pastor Joel Davis and enjoyed meeting his family!

We were blessed to meet Carla, who was trained to be a counselor many years ago, and volunteered to be a prayer counselor during the altar call at Calvary Baptist.

It was also great to be back with Gene and Faith Van Zee, whom me met and stayed with during a crusade in Platte in the mid 1970s. It was great to reconnect with them and we were overjoyed to know that they are so involved in evangelism at detention centers, prisons, etc.

"We became friends with Larry and Gloria way back in Gene & Faith Van Zeethe mid-70's when both of us had small children.  We were active in the crusade the Lundstrom's had in Platte.  Gene and I were so excited that Larry and Gloria were coming back to Platte for a service July 19th.  It was great to hear them sing the Lundstrom songs again---it brought back so many memories!  As always, Larry presented the Gospel in such a way that everyone could understand it.  It was great to have them stay in our home so we could visit and reminisce about what God is doing in each of our lives.  We are so thankful that they have remained faithful to the calling that God has put on their lives of preaching the Good News to a lost and dying world.  You have touched so many lives and for that we say "THANK YOU!"

From Platte, we drove into Nebraska. We were mesmerized by the thousands of bales of hay that glistened in the sun. Especially when we were told that it is so dry in Montana. We are thankful that we will have bales to share with others in need.

We were greeted in Lewellen, Nebraska with such anticipation and excitement at the Tiger Den school auditorium. Wow! God did some really neat things in the lives of those who responded to the altar call. Pastor Maynard commented after the service, "I don't even know how we got ahold of you, or who contacted us, but we sure know WHY you were here after we saw so many go forward to receive Christ." He continued, "There were so many that we thought were born again, but they said that they were good church-going people; but when they prayed, their commitment when from their head to their heart."

Diane Unterseher and Terry Jessen

We want to thank Diane Unterseher and Terry Jessen for being instrumental in getting us into the Lewellen High School. Again it goes to prove that if someone really cares, they can get an event going and see the Lost won to Christ.

Thanks Diane and Terry!

From Nebraska we headed back into the badlands of South Dakota. There were a lot of long, hot miles in between Lewellen and Kadoka, SD!

The ride was so beautiful, but so hot on the way to Kadoka where we were again greeted by precious pastor and wife, Gary and Ruth McCubbin. We met him a couple of years ago while ministering in Midland, SD and he said if you ever get into our area, come to our Presbyterian church - we'd love to have an outreach to the lost and hurting.

Pastor Gary & Ruth McCubbin"We appreciated the Lundstrom's uplifting music and their message of the truth of the Gospel.  They truly have a great desire to see those who are lost be transformed by the Good News of Jesus Christ.   They have a servant's heart to serve the Lord and the local church."

After the altar call on Sunday morning, one precious lady walked up to me and said, "We loved the service this morning and the simple message. Just seeing people come to Christ, we realize what we've been missing. It was wonderful."

Landon Stout & his darling children

We love having families with little children join us for our services!

Youth Works group

"We really enjoyed this service today!" was what we heard from this group from Youth Works that were helping out in the Kadoka area.

Gene & Faith Van Zee's dog

We will be heading back to the Sisseton area for a couple of weeks and catching up on office work, etc. Yes... we often get "dog tired", too!

 We pray that you'll have a wonderful rest of July and you'd sense and feel the presence of God ever near to you.

If you are in Minnesota plan to join us on Sunday, August 23rd in Detroit Lakes at Lake Eunice Evangelical Church for a 10:00 am service and 7:00 pm service. We will also be in Aberdeen, SD on Sunday, August 30th for a 10:30 am service at First Assembly of God. Have a great couple of weeks!

"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me."

{Chuckle/Reflection}

Just goes to show - you just never know how you will be blessed!

"Today at 7AM, I woke up feeling ill, but decided I needed the money, so I went into work.   At 3PM I got laid off. On my drive home I got a flat tire. When I went into the trunk for the spare, it was flat too.   A man in a BMW pulled over, gave me a ride, we chatted, and then he offered me a job. I start tomorrow!"

{Recipe}

German Style Carrots

1 T. oil

5-6 carrots, slivered

1 medium onion, sliced

1-2 T. sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup water

Pour oil in saucepan.  Fill almost to top with carrots. Slice onion on top. Add sugar, salt and water. Cook on low heat until tender.

{Household Hint}

Create a thrifty watering can by puncturing holes in the top of a used milk jug.
