July 15, 2015

Greetings from Sisseton! What an exciting weekend! We were privileged to come back home where our family hosted a surprise, early birthday party for my mother who will be 100 in November (too difficult to get family together in unpredictable Midwest weather in November). It was so much fun to be with my 9 brothers, their mates, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. There were over 100 of our immediate family there (chuckle).  I am posting a couple of pictures that looks like a church Sunday School photo. She was totally surprised and we had a program and dinner, humorous skits and stories, etc. What a great time of incredible memories! It was wonderful to be able to celebrate her life with her there (versus coming together for a homegoing), she enjoyed every minute of it. What a milestone!

Larry and Pastor Galen Skinner

You've heard of the term "a diamond in the desert"? That's exactly what we experienced when we were invited to the little thumbprint community in Goehner, Nebraska.

The meeting was packed with excitement and wonderful people expecting something from the Lord. Many made decisions for Christ and life changes in that service! It was great to meet Pastor Galen Skinner, who so graciously hosted us. It was truly an exciting event during the Fourth of July weekend!

Altar call at Goehner, NE

We are preparing to leave for a tour out in western South Dakota and looking forward to great altar calls and seeing lives changed! I am sure we will experience the prairie land heat wave that is coming through.  Try to keep cool and have a wonderful week! Please continue to remember us in prayer for safety and health. Blessings to you!

"What greater blessing to give thanks for at a family gathering than the family and the gathering."

{Chuckle/Reflection}

Hanging up the phone with my 90-year-old mother, I sighed, then said to ?my 96-year-old uncle, "She's so ?stubborn."

He shook his head sympathetically and warned, "You're going to have trouble with her when she gets old."

{Recipe}

Salad Sandwich

½ tsp. mayonnaise

6 cucumber slices

¼ firm tomato

¼ onion

¼ green pepper, sliced

Lettuce leaves

3 mushrooms, thinly sliced

1/8 large apple

1 kosher dill pickle

2 slices thin sliced bread

Mix all above ingredients (except bread) and make your own fresh summery sandwich!

{Household Hint}

Use the right tools for the job: Microfiber cloths are great for most jobs, but some tasks require a specialist. Try a damp pet sponge to quickly remove pet hair from upholstery and pillows. A dry sponge erases grime from acoustical tiles. Wear cotton gloves and clean mini-blinds by hand.
