August 26, 2015

What a perfect August day---about 70 degrees with a slight breeze and the sun shining brightly!

We had an awesome weekend of ministry at the Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church located in Detroit Lakes, MN.  It was like a homecoming reunion!  Friends drove in from all over the area, both far and near.  We even had guests from South Carolina and Australia!  All of these friends we had met somewhere…sometime!  I really think they came to see if Larry and I were still alive!  HA!

Rev. Dan & Merilee Ottoson

We would like to extend special thanks to our evangelist friends, Dan & Merilee Ottoson, who contacted us months ago inviting us to minister in that area.

He and his wife took the lead and made it happen.

Rev. Dale & Pat Robbins

We were graciously received by Pastor Dale and Pat Robins.  Again, it proves, when people are concerned about the lost and take the opportunity and initiative to plan a rally….it can happen!

We went and God did the rest!  What a precious altar call!

Detroit Lakes, MN altar call

"It was a joy and a privilege to have Larry and Gloria minister in the morning and evening services at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church of rural Detroit Lakes, MN recently.  It had been over 18 years since our church had held special evangelistic meetings.  We knew that by inviting the Lundstroms we would be getting a ministry who shared our passion for winning souls to Jesus Christ.  Larry and Gloria's ministry was well-received by our congregation and the many visitors who came from near and far to hear them.  Ministering with refreshing humor, the unmistakable and enjoyable Lundstrom style of music and Larry's simple, but powerful messages, people's hearts were reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  There were at least two dozen people, adults and children, who responded to Larry's invitation to either receive or rededicate their lives to Christ.  Along with the angels in glory we were, and are, rejoicing over these wonderful results.  Lives were changed for time and eternity and changed lives change the world!

On a personal note, I have known of the Lundstroms' ministry since I was 14 years old.  After having received Christ as a 15 year old sophomore in high school I would attend the Lundstroms' crusades whenever they came to our area.  Their ministry contributed greatly to my spiritual growth in those early years of my walk with Christ.  Their ministry was also one of the motivating factors God used to birth in me the desire to serve Him in full-time itinerant evangelism, which has now lasted for 36 years!  Thank you, Larry and Gloria, for giving and continuing to give to the Lord.  Well done thou good and faithful servants!"

Associate Pastor

Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, Detroit Lakes, MN

**Pastor Danny & Merilee served as Child Evangelists for over 30 years.  What an honor to still be connected with them after all these years!

Another great testimony from the service was from a couple who shared with us that their son went forward in one of our meetings at 12 years of age and died at the young age of 21.  They were so thankful that their son lived his life for God until his very last breath.  That knowledge has been a true comfort to them as they walked through the valley of that experience.

We never get tired or grow accustomed to seeing people respond and come to Christ….whether for a first time commitment or a time of recommitment…it is always a joy!

We have been on the "revolving door" tour schedule since May.  Home and gone…home and gone…home and gone.  Subsequently, my suitcases stay packed as we are always "on call" to make an unscheduled trip for ministry, business, etc.

You and I realize we are definitely living in uncertain dangerous days---and the devil knows his time is short---and is on a rampage to discourage and destroy Christians.  The attack of the enemy is relentless.  The above really hit home as we arrived home to Sisseton after a weekend of services.  We walked to our front door only to realize a mammoth spider had taken residence there spinning a huge web from the house to my flower planter.  This same species of spider returns every year….a yellow-bellied bully!  I've tried to get rid of them but they are persistent to keep coming back.

Regardless, a couple days ago, I decided to stage a war against them yet again.  I took a stick to tear up its web and kill it but it evidently saw my approach and escaped by speeding down the wall.  I sighed but continued on my mission to destroy the web.  I smiled.  A few minutes later, I went up to our motorhome for about an hour and a half to work on some inventory.  I returned home only to find that spider had completely woven another huge web.  It sat there in the middle as if to say, "I'm back!  You thought you were rid of me!"  Its ugly determination reminds me of satan's devices.  John 10:10 states, "The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy."  Like the spider, satan will return when you think you have "whopped" him.  He is relentless and attempts to show up again and again in one situation or another.

As children of God, we must keep our weapons of warfare close by and engaged lest the enemy takes advantage of us.  It is essential to keep in the Word as "It is a lamp unto my feet" (Psalm 119:105) and a guide to advise you.  It is imperative to pray, pray, pray as the Bible instructs "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess. 5:17) as the devil walketh about seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8).  It is also critical to keep fellowship with believers as you need the Body of Christ as a support system to encourage you, strengthen you and give you perspective.  I love the verse where the Lord promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)----He didn't say we would have it easy or pain-free but He promises He will walk with us if we stay close with Him!

As I close, we were so thrilled to have our daughter, LaShawn, and her husband, Liam, come Liam & LaShawn with Grandma Juliethrough Sisseton for a day on their business trip enroute to Vancouver, Canada.  They were also so excited to see Grandma Julie Brooks who will turn 100 years old in November.

Until we chat again, may the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you!

We hope you keep tuned in to our road schedule and join us for our special 50th marriage and ministry celebration rallies!

When baking bread, you can achieve a finer texture if you use milk. Water makes a coarser bread.
